    Default Replacing a shower waste

Hi All, I have jacked up the tiles on my shower base with intention of just doing a basic face lift with new tile etc. I broke the shower waste and now think i have no choice but to jack quite wide and deep around the waste so I can get the broken waste off the pipe. Does anyone have any advice on how to do this? Even if i can jack deep enough to get better access to the pipe, how does the old waste come off the pipe as it would be glued on wouldn't it??
I have tried to attach a couple of photos to help you see what I mean.
    Any advice much appreciated!

Probably need to know whats underneath.
It might be simple to break the old pipe away from the cement leaving the hole
you would then need to cut a section underneath to reconnect new pipe with elbow
depending on height and coming through the concrete and adding a new grate.
It will be glued and doubt you will be able to crack the glue to undo joins.

It is a simple thing to do once you know how.

Looks to me like a 4" grate with a 2" pipe going through a 4" penetration that has been filled. If there is access underneath ( I am assuming that it is a 2" pipe with a trap under it) I would smash it out and fit a 4"x2" pot, which will give you 4" pipe sticking up out of the slab which your waterproofer will deal with.

Thanks for your feedback so far guys.
Both suggestions have been smashing it out, but i dont really want to remove the whole hob as I will just then need to jack down further into the slab to reposition the pipe to suit a shower base.
Wonderplumb, in laymens terms what is a 4" x 2" pot?? Or do I just ask for this at plumbing place?

Just ask them for a 4 x 2 pot mate, they will know what you're on about. Basically its a P trap that has a 4" top and a 2" outlet.
