    Default Powerpoint above Benchtop

Hi, I'm about to undergo a kitchen renovation and have dramatically changed the layout. As a result I'll have to get the powerpoint moved to a new location. A 1m wide pantry will now cover the wall where my existing powerpoint was. I'd like to keep a powerpoint in roughly the same location however the only option available to me is to have it placed between the benchtop and the window architrave above. This distance is 150mm. I'm a little uncertain this will fly as the edge of my sink is approx 500mm left of that. Could somebody please advise whether this meets regulations or not. I'm pretty sure I've seen something in the past about it having to be 150mm above a water source?
Also with regards to the remaining powerpoints in the opposite corners away from any water source I'd like to have them lowered to be a lot closer to the benchtop to hide it's visibility. Is there a minimum height above a benchtop I must adhere too? Thanks in advance..

Think about what you will be plugging in to these power points....
Some appliances have those side entry style plugs which are very hard to plug in if the power point is too low.
Also some of the bigger "wall wart" transformers can struggle for room in a low power point too.

Hi,The AS3000 rules state that if the sink is less then 45 litres and has a fixed tap, the minimum distance away from the edge of the sink are as follows.15m away from the edge of the water container.4m vertically above and .15m around the water container. If the sink is larger then 45 litres or has a flexible tap.5m away from the edge of the water container1m vertically above and .5m around the water container. Also must be on a safety switch - RCD- Always use an licenced electricianHere is an article I wrote regarding different types of power points available, if you are interested.http://www.sparkydirect.com.au/g/115...lRegardsSparky Direct

Your GPO only needs to be 150mm horizontally away from the water then it can be any height. As one of the other posters said be careful how low you go as plugging in appliances and be a nuisance.

thanks guys, appreciate the feedback. I wont be having the powerpoint placed too close to the benchtop where I can help it. Just not keen on the current one being 400mm above the benchtop and like to make sure I plan to adhere to Aus standards. As for the powerpoint between the benchtop and the window I'll have a think about that. Thanks for all the advice..

Tip. Keep the old powerpoint, in the pantry. Can come in very handy. Costs virtually nothing to have it.
