I do a lot of renovation work for a mob that specializes in student accommodation.. not only do the students(mainly Asian)have no idea about electricals and smoke alarms and the like but they employ balinese cleaners and they are equally clueless.. im sure this sort of crap happens all the time..
It is a snapshot of what can happen and some of them are pretty simple but we forget about how little some people know. As far as I know SA is the only state to publish these incidents I know Queensland doesn't.
There are a few funny ones there but there are also some potentially serious ones.
and they are just the ones reported i gather.. im sure many more aren`t .
"Student fastened paper clip to wooden ruler and then inserted clip into socket outlet"
"Fortunately the student only received a fright"
Damn, Darwin missed this one.....
I get these as part of a technical roundup that I subscribed to as licensed person even though I am in Queensland and I get emails about it but I went in and had a closer look and I found a link where anyone can get it. This is the link sa.gov.au - Electrical, gas, water and sewerage, and plumbing safety and technical regulation .On the first column under "About the OTR" there is a link to Regulation Roundup. It refers to all problems that crop up from licensed persons Electricians, Plumbers and Gasfitters. Remember it is SA so their interpretation of the regs may not be the same as the other states.
So knock yourself out reading, I would be interested in what you think of the link.
For those that are interested you don't have to be a licensed person to get the Regulation Roundup emails, you can have yourself put on the mailing list just by contacting the Office of the Technical Regulator, I think the emails come out every quarter and also cover plumbing and gas trades.
