Talking Decking Stage 1 -Low Decking on concrete - Porsche

    Good morning all:

I am a new member on the forum and I am planning to start this weekend my new project on my house: Decking. I have been working for almost 1 year doing a lot, such as installing timber engineering floring, venetians on the windows, pavers, retaining walls, garden shed, levelling the ground, building a rock retaining wall....ufff... I am tired again just when I am remember how much work has been done for the last 12 months.. but the satisfaction and achievement that you get when all the work is done is awesome.

Well back to my new project:decking. I will be doing the work for stages:
    Stage 1: Porch
    Stage 2: Footpath A
    Stage 3: Alfresco
    Stage 4: Footpath B

    Stage 1: Porch

    1.1 Initial Planing:
    • I will be building a low decking on concrete.
    • Boards : Merbau 90 x 19
    • Area : 2270 width x 2520 long x 160 height
    • Joists : 140 x 35 H3 Treated Pine
    • Hangers : 120 x 35
    • Distance between joists : 450
I will be posting some pictures about the area later today.

    Regards,

    Victor

We look forward to seeing your photos as we are having a debate at our house as to whether we deck or pave when we do our extension and whether we extend the slab to use as the base.

Good luck getting started this weekend, hopefully the weather is kind.

    Cheers

    Very neat job. well done.

I'm wondering how water gets out of the porch recess, as it seems lower all 'round.
