I built a low deck on treated pine sleepers as bearers
Hi all
We have an area out in back yard well away from house that we want to use as an outdoor area. We are thinking of either concrete or paving.
But I am also toying with the idea of a timber deck. How high would the minimum a deck would have to be off the ground?
Is there anyway a timber deck can be built straight on the ground at all?
Or should I just go back to the concrete idea?

you build a frame and put the decking timbers on top of that.
depending on the size - this will determine the frame size... what area are you looking to cover? any pics of the area?

Be aware of the ground conditions being well drained. Also care with decking type as wide hardwood could well be susceptible to cupping.
Very low deck vs pavers?
Pavers any day.
There are way more issues than H4 can resolve.

I reckon Hardiedeck may be a good low deck option... if you want to try something a little different.
