Replacing Termite Infested Joists and Bearers?

We had a property with minor termite damage to one wall. Started renovating found some more damage, and then more... three walls later and one ceiling joist and the problem was in hand.

However after my experience your description of 'major structural' termite damage would see me running a mile. If you do want to pursue get a professional to provide a quote but expect a heap of disclaimers regarding non-visable damage. Then make a low offer to make up for the costs plus the inconvenience and so forth.

Yeah - it's sounding less and less promising. It's a pity though. If I was a builder I would go for it. The land is undervalued for the area!

Depends just how cheap you can get it for. I sold a heap of (termite-treated) timber to 2 guys who did the same thing - they bought the house half-a-million under market value. One was a chippie and the other had the 200K they were planning to use fixing it. After that was a simple sale with a 300K profit in 12 months
