    Default Retaining Wall Under House

    Hi there

I was wondering if someone would be able to give me some advice? My house is built on a hill, and lately I have noticed movement in the house (cracks etc). Under my house is a retaining wall built from star pickets and corrugated iron. It obviously needs redoing. There are piers about a meter away from the retaining wall and the wall is about a meter high. I am worried about removed this dodgy retaining wall to put a decent one in.

And suggestions on what I should do? Should I remove the current one first? Should I do the new retaining wall myself or get a pro in?

    Thanks for any advice...

    Regards,
    Rich

I'd suggest you get someone professional to look at it.

Fair call... Who do I call though? A brickie? A landscaper? Or is there a specialised trade for under-house retaining walls?

    Thanks for your input

"House on a slope, cracks appearing, some sort of dodgy retaining wall " I'd be talking to a structural engineer if it was my place

Start by giving us s few good pictures . . .

How much movement - mm, cms?

    How fast - a week, a day, a year?

Might be a big problem, might be normal movement.

Might be related to that wall, might not . . .

Agree with Goldie, get an engineer in.
Growing old is compulsory, growing up is not.

Agree too. But still post some pics and a bit more detail like Bloss said.
