dowel and some no more gaps on top?
Hi. I’m wanting to butt join some 16mm melamine faced particleboard.
Its more a matter of tidying up the appearance. It doesn’t need strength.
I have found this https://www.bunnings.com.au/brutus-1...E&gclsrc=aw.ds
Its a bit ugly, though.
Is there anything more attractive available ? What do others use?

Being inside a wardrobe (your deleted thread), the H mould would be most suitable. I expect no more gaps would look messy.....as it will be in wardrobes and not easily seen.
Similar to an earlier reply, I've use biscuit joints to butt join melamine with good results. In my case I was creating a corner top shelf for a fitted wardrobe.
The one thing about melamine, unless the edges are perfectly straight and clean cut the results could look messy, with slightly chipped edges. The "h" channel like you have shown would cover these defect - if you're more bothered about appearance and your edges are straight and clean 2-3mm aluminium strip between the two panels can look quite good.
Yes, I like the idea of the 2mm aluminium strip. Prior that suggestion I was in favour of just getting each edge edged with 1mm abs edging, so you would just see the two strips of edging butted up to each other. So it would look like 2mm plastic strip rather then aluminium.
Considering how much melamine is in use in Australia i think it’s odd that no-one is producing an attractive joining system for flat joints.
