This is a woodwork forum, Mark. How 'bout a nice timber threshold? Select a colour to match or complement the carpet. Stain if necessary.

I have made a doorway in what was previously a wall.
The carpet now ends up about 10 mm away from the edge of the door. The room on the other side is on a new slab, which is to be tiled.
I don't want the tiles extending under the door into the existing room, to meet the carpet, as it would look ugly.
I don't want to replace the carpet, as I have already blown my budget.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks
Mark

Of course truth is stranger than fiction.
Fiction has to make sense. - Mark Twain
Carpet layers could stretch the carpet by that much.
For the best results I use -
Another idea would be a brass or ally strip but I would use wood.
. . . making saw and metal dust helps keeps me sane
My SIL made a little tile mosaic to fill the space.
