Cutting floorboards
I need to replace a number of floorboards in the hallway, my question is, how can I get a nice clean cut on individual boards without cutting into the boards either side, in other words I don't want to remove all the boards, the only tool I think is suitable is the Bosch multi tool, seems it would be easy to control, and give a nice fine cut, so the new board can butt up to cleanly...remembering the joist is under the cut...any suggestions would be appreciated.

circular saw. blade cover retracted with care will do the job. You only want to cut the top of the board to the point where you almost hit the boards next to it. Then finish the job with a chisel.
How I was shown and worked out for me.

Thanks fella's...see how I go...but I don't reckon I will find a sharp chisel in this joint.:)

I've just been using a Multitool for this purpose. It's very acurate and does a good job. :2tsup:

i used a router, tacked a wooden fence/guide on the damaged board to ensure a straight cut all around it at perfect depth, the only chisel work was squaring up the round internal corners
worked out very neat
