Not if you're gluing the boards down - you'll likely effect the binding of the glue. Just trowel gluing the boards down using Soudal SMX 30plus will do the trick
I'm overlaying 13mm spotted gum onto yellowtounge in the kitchen and hallway (which also has the laundry/bathroom doors).
There's a small wait for the timber to arrive. So I've been toying with the idea of buying a can of oil based sealer/undercoat and painting the floors.
I'm not planning on sanding much, other than the joins. I know there's a already wax coating. But I figure that for <$200 and a few hours that it's another layer of protection in case there's a water leak or large enough spill that could seep through the overlay boards.
The oil based paint should stick OK to the waxy finish, which I presume is also oil based. But will the paint affect the ability of construction adhesive adhesive to hold the boards down (carpenters are using max bond flooring adhesive)?
Thanks.

Yes, boards will be glued down. Thanks.
