I had no idea what facia was until now. Now it starts making sense to me on what you might be suggesting. I will explore tomorrow whats behind it and see if I can locate studs. I think that may solve my issue (s). You are correct, all i want to ensure is that the little shaking is gone.

Though, I have another last concern about the back beam span with no middle support but this solution may solve that issue too ( If I can somehow add support to to it in middle the same way) but one thing at a time.

    I think few of these brace tunebuckle may help in the support;

Thanks Mate, I had a look at the Facis today. There are house roof rafters behind it:

The only issue I can think now is that how to connect it to Rafters as they are 1) not aligned 2) they are below the height of facia, Are there any Metal Plates that can be used?

What do you guys think Brace Turnbuckle

    Hi Droog,

Apologies if I have missed the info above. I will ensure to read everything again and want to sincerely extend my gratitude for all the help I have received so far.

If your comment is about “Dunning 22 Galvanised Extended Fascia Bracket” then I forgot to mention that it wont solve the issue as the beam fair bit below and this extension will be 200mm above.

Thank you again to everyone of you for taking the time out to help me.

Your rafters appear to extend above the bottom of you facia and almost to the bottom of your gutter. Once you have a suitable point of attachment behind your facia such as the brackets I linked to or trimmers installed between rafter tails, then there is no reason that you cannot use them as an anchoring point to stabilise you pergola structure.

Using turnbuckles or other fixtures from the rafters or other members in your pergola structure attach them to the mounting points behind your facia.
Best solution is one brace at each end of your pergola, ideally at a 45degree opposite angle at each end.

Even if each of these attachments slope downwards at a slight angle to the top of the pergola beams ( looks like about 100mm below) rather than the rafters it will not affect its function. It is bracing, it is not full support of the structure.

You only need to find a house rafter-end at each end of the structure. Fix a trimmer between two of your new rafters close to the fascia and drive a batten screw through it into a house rafter-end. Repeat at the other side

    Hey Mate,

Thank you so much for the suggestion, I have attached this 375 x 75 x 5mm Galvanised Mending Plate Bracket to the house Rafter with 2 x M 10 Hex bolts and 2 other on the wooden board outside (as pic). This has reduce the shaking almost 50%. I think 1-2 more and 100% will be gone!

I have also adjusted the bracing (added in front) along with 2 100 x 100 mm posts on the back as well.

Thank you again to all of you amazing people for being patient and helping a newbie like me so much to get to this point.

You got those front knee braces on

Once you have done the connections to the house rafters, loosen off all knee braces except those front ones, and see if it's still stable

A piti you did not brace the post by concreting shs in, and slide post inside. all those braces would be then unnecessary.
Hopefully screwing to the house frame will improve things.
