LVL Beams

LVL's are great, spans are excellent etc. but you need to make sure they are suitable for external use. They will often have a specific way that they need to be finished/sealed so make sure you source that material prior to choosing them.

They are a good product - very true and stable as long they are sealed well. Get the H3 stuff, and once all cuts are made and you are ready to install them, paint them really well all over. If the pergola isn't that big, i.e. doesn't really need the spans afforded by LVL, you may be better off with treated pine as it is less prone to swelling due to moisture intake.

I dont use anything else. I love em.
