’Your builder or tradesperson must provide you with a copy of the policy and a certificate of insurance covering your property before you pay a deposit or any other money.’
Hi all I did a bit of a search. Currently at the start of a dispute with a builder over some bathroom renovation works and defects.
As the works is over 16k I've been told we should have been provided certificates of builders warranty insurance to protect us if the builder dies/insolvent/dissappears etc.
Wanted to get peoples thoughts Are we able to request a copy of the certificate? It was never provided, only quoted within the contract.
I feel it should be provided before final progress payments are made.
Thoughts appreciated!
