    Default fixing new grout

My partner has attempted to grout our new toilet but hasn't done the best job. The grouting is very roughly done with lumps of grout between the tiles and hanging over the edges. Which is the best way to fix this?

    Get a new partner.

    Default Fix grout

Getting a new partner is taking the easy way out. NO - she must be made to go back and do the grouting properly. If you let her get away with this shoddy work then you are making a rod for your own back.

New partners aside for the moment your best move in such a small area is to remove the grout entirely and start again. Use a grout removal tool (cheap at Bunnies), dig it all out and take a bit more care next time. If grout is lumpy, was likely too thick when put on.

    The usual order is;

    grout
    scrape away excess
wait 30 minutes to an hour
wipe down tiles with damp sponge to remove excess (wipe across the grout lines, not down them)
next day wipe tiles with dry cloth to get the last of the grit
    Cheers,

    Bob

    Default Grout

Thanks Guys for your input. Aside from kicking my hubby out for "shoddy" work I will endeavour to fix his muck up.

Honouray Bloke thanks for the advice, I know what I will be doing this weekend. Ahhh a womans work is never done.

    Thanks

Am I the only one who realised you were a woman? Blame it on "the sheila" is naughty.

You are looking for a grout "saw" which is really just a scraper thingo. Should be in the tile section. Grouting is hateful, so don't hit him too hard. But going again is the only real solution. You are welcome and let us know how it goes.
    Cheers,
