Default placement of shower head for 1200 x 900 shower

    Hi Everyone,

I am currently in the middle of renovating my bathroom.

For a 1200 x 900 enclosed shower, which side would be the best side for the shower head?

The door will be on the 900mm side and i will be having a rain showerhead that's fixed to a wall (not ceiling).

I have always thought the shower head should be located in the centre of the narrow side, in this case being the 900mm wall. Plumber is suggesting to install the shower head centre of the 1200 wall.

I think installing the showerhead on the 900 side allows the person showering to set back if say adjusting the water temperature, etc.

Just wondering what everyone else thinks? Does it make any difference?

    Thanks

I don't know what's the norm but I think your logic is spot on

I’m going to agree with your plumber.

Having it in the centre of the 120cm shower means you’re in the middle of the shower so feels more spacious.

Install the tap closer to the door.

If it was an open shower or was a handheld shower, then closer to the 900mm side.

I’d also think about having both an overhead and handheld shower head.

Taps easy accessible close to the door and rain shower head centre of the room and fixed from the ceiling.

I Will have both an overhead and hand held shower head, hence why I think it should be on the 900 side.

Taps are currently installed close to the door.
