    Default Treating rotten timber

I have a second story veranda that is tiled and lined underneath with cement sheet.
My problem is that water has got through the tiles, water proof membrane and rotted part of the beams below,it is drying out very well, the area effected is only about 20 mm deep of a 50 by 250 mm beam and only around 1 metre long.
To replace the whole beam is a big job which would mean destroying most of the veranda ,tiles, ceiling lining underneath, etc, etc,as well as being on the second story.
So my question is ,after removing the loose rotten wood what would be the best way to treat the timber so any more rot would be halted.
    Thank's in advance
