    Default Drilling floor tiles?

I need to put a door stop in my bathroom and laundry. Will need to drill into the floor tiles, 200x200 ceramic tiles for wall plugs to anchor the stop ... how is the best way to do this to prevent cracking / breaking the tile? Tape the tiles, small masonary bit first, use a masonary bit or not?

    Thanks WW

small diamond hole saw, about 6mm diameter is what I use. If not, a masonary drill bit carefully used should be ok.
I'm no expert, but know enough to be dangerous...

You can also buy carbide tipped drills specifically for tiles, I got a set for around $15. Works well. Just remember to use plenty of water, and take your time. Force and heat are your enemy.

You can use a masonry bit but make sure the hammer action is off on your drill.

I use masonry bits and have never cracked a tile just as toothman said don't use the hammer setting and just take it slow once throught the tile turn on hammer and drill the rest of the hole

What Toothman and m6sports said and ya won't have any problems.
As a precaution I would and do punch the plug just below the thickness of the tile as I have had tiles crack from the screw causing the plug to expand.

I'm guessing the door doesn't open against a wall? If it did you could just put the door stop on the skirting board.

Sometimes the obvious things elude us!
