Internal brick wall damage, what and how to use

My girlfriends mum has an internal wall that is brick render, where the paint has peeled off and kids have etched in words and pictures.

I haven't been successful finding any instructions on filling/finishing the etchings or what compound to use, only really for gyprock.
Is the brick render still referred to as plastering or should it be in the rendering section? It's a white, gritty appearance under the paint and its a double brick house.

If it is sand and cement with a plaster set coat over, then use cornice adhesive and topcoat. If is is a sand finish then you would need to use a sand and cement mix to get the same look
