gday, you can tile onto plasterboard no problems, just don't use topping compound on any joints that will be under the tiles, tile adhesive doesn't stick too well to it.
Cheers

Hi all,
I'm almost ready to put up the plaster in my new loo and was wondering how to apply the wall tiles.
I want to have the back wall tiled to just above the cistern and a single row of tiles on the walls where the skirts would normally go.
Can I tile directly onto the plasterboard or do I need to use cement sheet for the tiles and plaster above that? Or is there another option?
Cheers,
Anthony

same as above, make sure there's no paint, plaster or anything else on the wall. Also check your glue type some types are specifically for this and the tile guy who sells you the tiles should have given you the right gear. Otherwise no probs.
If you dont play it, it's not an instrument!
Thanks guys, that's gonna make my life a bit easier. It'll be new plasterboard, so there wont be any issue with paint/plaster on it.
The hardest part now is going to be choosing the tiles....
Cheers,
Anthony
