Silicone last
I have Davco's Mocha grout.
I started grouting the walls and then thought it possibly beeter to do the silicone around the floor and wall corner joints first before they plugged up with grout "bits" which may hinder the seal.
Then I thought about the bath white silicone as well and ...and....
So what order do the pros use when grouting/sealing...
1. Silicone first then grout and wash....or 2. grout and wash then silicone...
If I put the white in now before the acid wash...to stop any grout acid wash from permating behind... then I might stain the white....likewise (but not so much) the mocha silicone.....although I have found this very hard to match....
and of course the floor has to be grouted before I acid wash the walls,.....
and preferably the wastes have to be in and functional otherwise the acid was will fo down the big hole to the dirt underneath....
Silicone last
grout, sponge first time to get grout lines nice and excess off the tiles. then sponge again 15 minutes later when the lines arent as shiny and the tiles have hazed in diagonal lines using only 1 wipe per side and rinsing.
after its cured over night i then silicone with masking tape the next day.
so if you have to use acid wash.....then after silicone?
If anyone has used Davco's Mocha grout - best match silicone suggestions please. At the moment I have Fullers Mocha - but it's a little more beige than grey/green like the Davco grout. I checked their website to no avail.
Interesting though - I noted that the grout can have a few colour variations if you use too much water in the sponge down.
correct hydration is crucial to colour solidarity.
the fuller product is only acrylic i believe and will mark easy and wear out in a few weeks compared to a silicone. if anything says it can be cleaned up with water, then its not good to be around water areas. try the $17 silicones in the tiles ection at bunnings or go to a tile supplier to find some other brands that are good also. davco make silicones but bunnings dont sell them either.
silicone should be the last thing you do on a tiling job so you can get everything clean and not have any possibility of compromising the seal.
