The block is more than likely core filled, this will mean the whole block.
i have a unit complex that is made from concrete floors and bessa block walls, i want to run cable down part of the wall near the entry door way and want to find the hollow section of the bessa blocks to run a cable through the wall to the ceiling and out the top again just before the ceiling.
how can i find a centre of a bessa block thats not concrete filled to drill a hole in to run the cable?? im tapping the wall but it all sounds the same.
The block is more than likely core filled, this will mean the whole block.
i know sections are and sections are not, the corners are, but i know sections arent and wanna know how i find this out the easy way.
The easiest way is probably to drill a small hole to test. Easy to plug it up afterwards. If you're in Cairns, all corners and beside all openings should be filled. Also at varying centres in panels.
And the top 1 or 2 courses (under upper concrete floor or roof) might be filled.
Mouse over the 'Grout' label on this page Concrete Block Types, Dimensions Core Fill Grout, Rebar - 200 Series to see which cores are usually filled.

We used to be fast rough and expensive, but we've slowed down a lot lately
The electricians usually put the power points in the hollow section if there is one, so you could try using that as a guide.
i could mount it next to the light switch and run the side up beside the light switch conduit maybe, that is if it is hollow there.
