Laying Bricks on smooth concrete slab Hi all,
I'm hoping someone can agree with my thinking here..............
I have a need to lay a double course of concrete bricks around the perimeter of a carport slab. The bricks will get the following proposed stud wall off the ground and away from any ground moisture.
Trouble is, i'm not sure whether straight brickies mortar will hold the courses in place on the slab. My method will be to cut a shallow trench in the slab, 5-10mm deep, scabble it out and lay the bricks on this with a layer of DPC between each course of bricks.
Would i need reo bars penetrating the slab?

It certainly will work as intended, but strewth, that is really making sure. Unless you expect cyclone ida, you probably only need to place good dampcourse under the bottom timber plate, dynabolt or ankabolt through that, and proceed on up.

Why would you do this at all? If you use treated pine framing and appropriate flashing/ dampcourse the frame can be mounted directly to the slab with no brickwork needed.
