Default Matching mortar colour for pointing

I need to do a bit of pointing on an area of brickwork. The last time I did some (different house) the brickwork was painted so I didn't have to worry about the colour of the mortar - but this time unfortunately I do!

I'd imagine I need to do a bit of trial and error, but looking at the photo of a good section (see https://imgur.com/Nl4m9PL) would anyone care to give me a starting point for the sand type and rations I'd need to use.

    Thanks in advance

Yellow sand, offwhite cement. Add a dash of yellow oxide and tip of black

You can never match perfect because brick cleaning strips back the matrix exposing the underlying aggregate

Thanks. I doubt I'll get an exact match, but would like it to not be too obvious. I think I get the idea of the 'dash' and 'tip' measurements - but into what quantity of mortar are you adding those? A mixer load?
