    Default Expansion Joints and Termites

Complete newbie question here, coming from a former city-slicker who's spent his entire life so far in rental houses.

Planning on building a new shed in the backyard now that I'm about to have my own house, the plan is to be timber-framed and clad. The aim is to have a 3m x 5m vibrated slab (+75mm each side) as I hear termites in Adelaide are hungry little buggers.

Not knowing a thing about concrete, would a slab that size need expansion joints, and would that affect the termite-protection a vibrated slab provides?

I'm definitely going to be approaching the pros for this, I'm just doing homework/pre-education.

I'm not an expert and the standards are getting tighter however for that size slab I would not put in an expansion joint

Likewise. As long as it has mesh and is a 100mm thick. As for termites, you don't want any hidden cracks that can't be inspected, though in reality that's hard to accomplish.
