    Default high water table

    G'day, I'm a newbie - first post

I'm planning on putting a trampoline below ground. Everything organised for treated pine retaining wall (excavator, soil removal, sourced materials including drainage etc, dug a pilot hole prior to excavator arriving to check soil type etc. The soil is a sandy loam and easy to dig, but at around 1.2M down I struck water - I know the water table is high in my area. I'm happy to raise the top of the retaining wall around 100mm and put in a deck surround. The bottom of the pit + 100mm crushed rock won't be down at the water level, but want opinions on setting the posts for the retaining wall as they will probably be sitting in water.

The height of the retaining wall will probably be around 900mm below ground level.

Do I need to use gal steel H posts, or a certain type of concrete for setting the posts? Any other ideas?

If your posts are going to be below the water line, you will possibly need an H5 or 6 sleeper. I think the standard sleeper you would pick up would be H4. H4 is for in-ground and outdoor use, where as H5 is contact with water, or submerged in water. (H6 is sea water).

Thanks - I'll go with H5 - do you think rapid set is OK, or should I use other concrete. I was hoping to use rapid set as otherwise I would have to mix by in a barrow.
