Default Question about pipe clamps for making wide boards

    Hi all,

I bought some pipe clamp fittings and from what I have read, people get the threaded galv pipes for them. Bunnings have them at 1200mm for 20 bucks each. That would set me back $80.

They also have unthreaded at 3000mm for 16 bucks each. I would only need two, they would be longer at 1.5m each and would be less than half the cost.

Would it be wise to get the cheaper ones? Am I missing something, are they not as thick or strong as the threaded ones? Threaded specs don't show how thick they are.

Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

You need the thread on at least one end of a pipe as it screws into the clamp end that has the handle on it.
If you buy un-threaded, you will have to thread one end of the pipe yourself.

You're absolutely right, there is. I didn't see that before. Sometimes I wonder if I'm really as clever as I think I am

    Thanks for that!

If you can find a friendly Fire Services (sprinklers) company near you a couple of bucks should get your pipe threaded, or even pipe and threading much cheaper than the B...
    And.....your point is.....what exactly?
