Default Using JB Weld silicon for oven door repair???

Not sure where to put this, but Tools seems to be the best choice.

While replacing the dodgy thermostat on our Ilve Oven I also noticed some separation between the inner and outer glass, so this might also have some bearing on the out of whack temperature control that SWMBO was on about.

The attached pic isn't all that great but it looks like a bracket siliconed to the front glass has partly come adrift. A check of Dr Google suggests that JB Weld Red Hi-Temp RTV silicon (up to 550F) will do the job. However I have some JB Weld Blue that I used for a mower head gasket. Although the JB Weld web site doesn't specify the Blue temp range, Dr Google suggests that it is O.K. up to 260C/500F which is the maximum for the oven.

Of course, SWMBO would rather have blue silicon than red inside the door (the bracket is fastened with a blue/grey adhesive and is outside the gasket area so not exposed to the oven inside temperture).

Any thoughts, opinions, alternative products, blue vs red, must use red, etc. The bracket hasn't fallen off yet but it will.

Hopefully that JB Weld wouldn't out gas some nasties into your yummy roast etc.

Thanks for that. I hadn't thought of looking at the Sika range of products. Might even have it at the local Mitre5 (half as good as Mitre10, Mightahadit, etc, etc)
