What is your ‘cedar block’ used for?

Usually a sandpaper for wood would be used (as opposed to the kind used to sand paint which is designed not to clog - which isn’t a problem when sanding wood).

I would ask for advice at your local hardware store, as products in Singapore may be different than in Australia.

is the sandpaper for wood black or brown in color? or other colors?

In Australia black sandpaper would probably be wet and dry. Traditional sandpaper is usually a light brown while the low clog is often white, there is regularly dark brown, red and yellow on the shelf. There is no industry standard that I am aware of for the colour of sandpaper, some manufacturers even colour code the back of the paper to identify the grit grade.

The colour will not make any effective difference to the end result for what you want, all you are trying to do is expose new timber.
Select a sandpaper that is listed as suitable for sanding bare timber, as opposed to painted surfaces or metal.
