Ceiling panels - asbestos or Canite? I’m pulling out an old ceiling and the installation method is typical for asbestos, but it looks like canite based on my brief research. Keen to get a second opinion.
I found an off cut in the ceiling, but no vendor markings. It’s very light, friable and soft.

Looks like the canite that I have seen in the past, does it also have a smoother finished side ?
Yes, slightly smoother - its almost like cardboard.
It DOES appear to be "canite".
Take a SMALL sample, take it outside to a safe area and see if it burns. (A FEW drops of metholated spirit may be of assistance.)
If it burns to ash it is NOT asbestos.
I was considering that test - good to get a sanity check.
Definitely Canite not asbestos
