Default Timber cladding over blue board (exterior)

    Hi, DIY’er here.
Following asbestos removal on our 1978 built house we are left with an ugly blue board next to our front door. I have been thinking about timber cladding (overlap feather board) and I am wondering if it can go over the blue board or if I have to remove it and then fix the timber cladding on the studs the board is screwed to.

I don’t want to do a half hassed job or the wrong thing so I thought I’d ask the experts.

Thank you for your help and advice with this.

dscn0866.jpgDid this over blue board for a lady about 16 years ago
Cheap pine and some stainless strips
It is not exposed to weather
Of course it is best to nail to the studs
Owner was happy with the end result
For memory I secret fixed the nails with a touch of liquid nails

What the fellers say but I'd pack it out by 20mm or so and add some RFL or thin Foilboard. Most Australian houses have insufficient insulation and I think every little bit helps. Alternatively do what I'm not allowed to do and make it a feature with lots of odds & sods of tile discards etc
