Have tried unsuccessfully to upload photos. Watched the video but I do not have all the button options which apparently should be in the photo box as shown in the video. All I have on screen is a button to "Choose File" which I do. The file name then appears.
Directly underneath is an "Upload File/s" prompt. If I click that I see a "File loading" message in the task bar of my computer then ....nothing. Are there some extra settings or privileges required?

There may be an Advanced option, so try that. If there isn't please state what Browser and Operating Operating system you're running there.

    Image size is everything.

    I open mine in Gimp

    https://www.gimp.org/

a free download, then do an "export as jpeg"... and reduce the quality by about 1/2 and save.
    And.....your point is.....what exactly?

I am clicking on the "Insert Image" icon in the formatting toolbar. When the "Insert Image" dialogue box opens there are 2 tabs...1 is to "From Computer" and the other "From URL". There isn't an 'Advanced' option tab or icon or button. In fact there is nothing else in the dialogue box except a line which displays the name of the image file chosen and an option to "Upload File". As mentioned before, when I select to upload the file it doesn't seem to go anywhere. I have gone into the "Manage Attachments" section under "Additional Options" and tried adding the file. Again, no success. I am using Google Chrome browser on Windows 10 OS. Is there a limit to the file size?
    Thanks

Yes, bit of a mystery but about 1Mb. Have you downloaded a free image re-sizer?

Yes there is a file size limit. I don't know what it is though.
Anything under a 100Kb should work though.

BTW, you don't need to download any third party software, Paint does the job fine. just click Resize and try a percentage (say 50%) and save it as a new image.

    Use it while you can.

    ...never tried that.
The free re-sizer download is easy though. Just a right click on the image file name and there is a new option to resize as large, medium, small, mobile or custom.

Windows is such a pain, I'd happily go back to XP. I now keep getting warnings of a new upgrade which I don't want (very protective of my data plan). Need to know how to stop it without affecting security updates.

Just cut your losses and move to Android. Chromebooks are cheap and great.

Seriously? Even Facebook tracks without an account. Avoidance is futile.

Why going through all that pain of resizing and using this site's bandwidth? Just post on Facebook and link. You can have any size picture you want without affecting this site and it takes just a few clicks to do.

Links can mean pics unavailable for future reference.

I get the same as you.
Ive never seen any other options.
Used to use IE on win8, now upto Edge on win10.

I resize before uploading and it avoids the issues 99% of the time.

Edit: I just leave the pics as thumbnails after loading, people can then click on photo if they wish to view full size (I assume this works for everyone?). this way when scrolling the thread photos aren't cluttering the screen. I notice if the pic is used in a quoted reply then the photo gets full sized.

Also happens if you edit your own post.
