We are building a new house, double story, and we wish to mount some large (and unfortunately, heavy) pendants in a few rooms downstairs and upstairs.
I have attached pictures of the lights in question, and also joist and roof truss diagrams. Considering the weight, what modifications should I make to the joists/trusses to allow extra weight?
The lights are as follows:
1) Rectangular pendant, 100x200cm, total weight 110kg.
Location: DINING
Support: Steel beam (luckily)
Joist spacing: 450mm
2) Round pendant, 120cm, total weight 75kg.
Location: FAMILY
Support: Joists, spacing 450mm
Light frame spacing: 100cm hole end to end, 40cm hole to hole (middle)
3) Rectangular pendant, 180x34cm, total weight 90kg.
Location: KITCHEN
Support: Joists, spacing 450mm
Light frame spacing: Two chains support. Chain mounts
4) Round pendant 80cm, total weight 40kg.
Location: LEISURE
Support: Roof trusses, spacing 600mm
Light frame spacing: 455mm hole to hole
5) Round pendant, 120cm, total weight 75kg.
Location: LEISURE (undecided on size)
Support: Roof trusses, spacing 600mm
Light frame spacing: 455mm hole to hole
I had some previous suggestions (see pics) about adding timber between joists, but roof trusses are not the same).
What extra requirements do I need to mount these, to be sure they will not fall down?
