    Default Gripset vs Davco

    Hey all,

I'm helping my folks with a bathroom and laundry reno, and we are up to the waterproofing stage.
I was planning on using Gripset 38FC, Gripset GP Primer and Gripset Elastoproof B10/B50 tape, but my tiler suggested Davco K10 along with their tape and primer.
Davco costs considerably more. Is the added cost due to their product actually being better, or is it because they are more popular?
15L of Gripset is $107, which is $7.10 per litre. 20L of Davco k10plus is $182, which is $9.10 per litre.
We only need around 15L, so the extra 5L of Davco would go to waste.

Is there better membranes than the above two mentioned?

    Thanks.

K10 has a proven record and maybe going with what your tiler wants works better for his/her warranty. I am not saying K10 is any better, and Crommelin is just as suitable.

Not sure where you got the K10 Plus price from , even Bunnings sell it for $165, the extra 5l won't go to waste they will use it.

Get what the waterproofer want's this way there is no complaints if something goes wrong.
Before you try to save a $50, I would be asking if the tiler is a licensed waterproofer, if he is not I would not have him do the waterproofing as he cannot offer a warranty on work he is not licensed to do.

If something goes wrong, it will cost you much than $50.

Sadly there are no current licensing requirements in Victoria - not until about 2022 when the new laws become fully implemented. I'd still use a proper waterproofer though.
