The oregon beams in my garage span that. They are 75mm x 300 mm. They've been there a long time.
Hi..
I am planning a flyover patio using roof extendas like the attached photo. It will be built over an existing deck that is approx 1.2m above ground.
The front beam span will be 6m and I would ideally like no posts across this section. Is it possible to span this distance with a timber beam?
Thanks in advance

A 300 x 63 LVL will clear span 6.3 mt with a tin roof
Yes. Get a H 3 treated LVL, cut it to length and then paint it all round, minimum 2 coats. I put the following specs into my Hyne program - length of 6.3 mt with a roof load width of 2.5 mt and rafter spacing of 900 mm with a tin roof and no ceiling. If these specs are not correct, the beam size will not be right. Dont rely on my info only. As you will need approval for the roof anyway, your drafty will no doubt check the sizing. With your deck been 1.2 high you will have balustrading. I suggest that you run a post up mid span. It will let you reduce the beam size and make bracing easier.
