Default Hedge Trimmer - what should I buy?

I am in the market for an electric hedge trimmer. I would prefer one with a bar that is around the 500mm + mark as one of my hedges can only be got at from one side and is quite deep.

Are there any brands I should keep away from? I don't want to go bottom of the market but want to stay under the $100.
I have heard mixed reports about Ryobi
I have read more dud reports than good about Talon in general
Ozito seems to be good value for market but is at the bottom of the price range that I am looking at.

    Opinions and recomendations please

    TIA, Jon

If you want to stay under the $100 then the bottom of the market is all you will get, if want something of a higher quality e.g. Metabo you will need to at least double you purchase price

I agree with China. You will get what you pay for in powertools. After a few cheapies that never ran well, cut inconsistently and died young, I took advantage of a good sale and bought a Metabo. If they are good enough for rental companies ...... After two years regular use it is still going like a dream and has cost me no more than the previous two combined.

When I said the bottom of the market I meant ROK and homelight etc. It will only be for light home use.

I bought the Ryobi electric trimmer. You can swap the attachment to perform different tasks. I got the standard trimmer with additional hedge trimmer and lawn edger attachments. It's a powerful beast so ear protection is definitely recommended! I have used all the attachments over the last 3 years and am very pleased with it.

Ryobi go alright in my experience.... for the price that is
I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like the passengers in his car.
