Hi, we currently own a rental property. The garden beds are not maintained by tenants and generally makes property and area look untidy.
Do people have ideas for what to put in area to make it low cost for a rental? Picture attached.
Hi PerthReno.

I have the same problem. Renters won’t usually weed garden beds to the level an owner might. They aren’t necessarily being lazy - many owners don‘t upkeep their own garden beds either. And weeding is a lot of work!
At each renter changeover I used to weed the garden beds thoroughly and lay mulch thickly. But grass still grows up! At the end of the last tenancy, one garden bed was 25cm deep in a layer of thick ‘hay’ where the grass had been sprayed over the past year but not removed.
I have now let many of the garden beds go to grass - it’ll make it easier for the renters to mow.
Alternatively, consider including gardening in the rental cost.
...thats a hard one. Last property I had for 15 years with the same issues. Simply spent a small sum to weed, mulch and thrown in a few more plants when I sold it
yucca's, argaves and agapanthus's and bark mulch.
that or rip it out and make them grass.
