Couple of questions, is the door solid wood, veneer or duracote.? when you say it is peeling,is it just the paint/ varnish.?If it is a solid wood door and splitting at the joints it can be fixed. As always a couple of pics would help!

    Default Cracked Front Door

    Thank you Jiggy,
    Apologies for being vague.
Door is timber with a veneer or plywood 'front' exposed to the weather. I think dampness has got into the bottom of the door and lifted and cracked the front plywood/veneer panel.
I am unsure if sanding is advisable or front door may have to be replaced.
Unfortunately I am unable to get a picture
    Many thanks MRK

There's probably not much you can do easily once the veneer has started to go.
Quicker and easier to go get a new door. They're pretty cheap these days assuming you can hang it yourself.
    Remember the 7 p's.
Proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance.

If you were just going to paint it ,then it would'nt be a problem, lots of filler and sandpaper. But since you want to oil / stain it its probably better to replace, unless you are comfortable taking the door apart and rebuilding it !
