Default Large uneven gaps between skirting boards and floor

I have an old villa with skirts in one room where gaps to the floor range between 3mm and 16mm. Reason is, some floorboards were damaged and the replacement boards were too thick so the floor sanders couldn't get them level with the others. Now it is just like 2 speed humps in the room. It is too late to take the skirts off and scribe (too hard in any event). I don't think I could use quad because it will pretty much follow the straight line of the bottom of the skirt, not the floor so I'll still have gaps. The gaps are too big for filler. Any other ideas? (other than carpet the floorboards!).
    thanks

How about strips of timber, maybe wedged shaped, that you can jamb into the gap that leaves a couple of mm's that can then be filled to give an even finish?
