Default The Other Hand door clamps

    Hi All,

I have about 20 doors to refit (including some planing and morticing), and will not always have someone around to assist. Are these tools worth the ~$130 asking price? Do they make the job any easier?

The Other Hand: Multi-Purpose and Door Fitting Clamp

    Cheers,

I've been doing 'door replacement therapy' recently and haven't needed anything like that. I actually straddle the door while I'm planing the edges. That works well for me, and I just lean it against something when I'm doing the hinges and knobs. Never a drama. I have seen blokes make little stands that the door slides into but I haven't bothered.

That's a really crumby web site they've put together too, doesn't showcase the product at all well.
    Remember the 7 p's.
Proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance.

I have one although I fit more than 20 doors a year, you can just cut a scrap of framing about 400 long cut a groove about 40mm deep by 60mm wide, then cut a wedge to secure the door free and easy.

    Thanks for the responses.

Yep, think I will just make up a stand, as suggeseted (I'm too short to straddle the door without risk of causing bodily harm...)

    That website is woeful!!

Hi JontyG, Having been a carpenter for almost 30 years and part owner & inventor of "The Other Hand" door fitting clamp, of course I highly recommend the tool.
There is nothing else on the market that will hold a door (even solid core), hands free vertically whilst hanging a door.
I suggest you go to our website www.theotherhand.com.au , pick a supplier and speak to them on how unique and usefull they really are.
If you need to know more, let me know.
    Cheers, Craig
