Default Recess sliding door rail into floor

    Hi all

We have a 5m x 2.4m alimony sliding door going into our extension.

The floor is built on stumps. I'd like to recess the base of the door frame into the floor, but I'm told this can't be done unless you're on a slab.

Even if only part of it can be recessed I'll be happy.

Can anyone think of a way?

    Cheers

    Alimony!!

If you mean aluminium then yes, I have recessed mine into the floor by omitting flooring in that footprint, direct to joists.

Of course it can be done, whether the builder wants to do it that way is another question.

Yes aluminium sorry. So basically you can only recess the door as far as the joists?

    Thanks, makes sense!

I've done some more reading and it looks like we can recess it more by lowering the joists below the door. However I guessing water drainage would then need to be considered.

Yes, you need to flash the length. My preference would be with Alcor http://vespol.com/datasheets/alcor.pdf
