Default what to replace these outside louvered patio doors with?

got these patio doors made of timber, tiled patio, rain blows in the patio area, timber is rotted out.
been quoted $4500 to replace with aluminium but needs a track at the bottom which we don't want. track will puddle water in there creating more issues as well as getting full of dirt and water itself. they say the new aluminnium doors will be heavier than the old timber doors??? wtf?? that true??? so they can't run a track at the top like it is now and hang them off that.
any ideas what to do here?

I'm guessing your new door might have glass in it for the weight to be heavier.
Looking at it the pics the opening does not look too big. You certainly should be able to get either a hinged aluminium door or one that is top tracked.
The only thing that may effect it is whatever new standards for wind rating that might apply if your near the coast.

Personally I think I would be going with a double glass door similar to these to let in more light.

...you'd be surprised at how well the tracks would perform. They have drain holes on the outside so they dont collect water and given you have a grassy area, probably little in the way of dirt.
We had sliders facing the open Northerly weather for 5 years and wasnt an issue from a water perspective. Dirt had to be cleaned/vacuumed out every 3 to 6 months.....but that was because it was crushed rock with fines that we had for 8 years.

They would also let in a lot more light than what you've currently got (if thats a consideration)

    Some suggestions:
    New $1300 - https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/town...100/1267605480

Secondhand $1100, but would be surprised if you couldnt get these for $700 to $800 if you waited for a few weeks

what about a sliding barn door. if the door was fitted to the exterior the door could hang below the tiled area, stopping water getting in?

this is the tracks that are in there now, but they reckon it wont support aluminium doors.
the replacement doors need to be the same or similar look to the ones that are there now as it is a unit complex and cant be looking different.

Do they really believe their aluminium doors are going to be more than 650Kg ?
Sounds more like the job is too hard for them.

trying to contact their technical side and manufacturer of the doors, they are away until next week, will get into technical discussion then with them.
