Default What is this shiny thingy?

Any idea what this is? Probably from some appliance, was about to chunk them earlier, but decided to figure it out first. Cheers!

They look like round soap holders that clip onto a verticle shower rail.

The builder left them there along with other bits and pieces from years ago. I thought they are parts for the kitchen or laundry, but I have never noticed anything missing from those areas.

They are chrome plated plastic, well finished, which suggests they are meant to be seen (not hidden away). They don't look like soap holders.

My first thought was what plum said but it might be upside down in the pic.

You guys might be right, soap dish is probably the only logical use of it. It's about 10cm in diameter, and yes, picture shows the wrong side, the main body would slide off from the clip if mounted this way,

What doesn't make a lot of sense is that the other side is smooth, there's no ridges like typical soap holders to left up the soap. But there is a drain hole as shown in the picture.

Ok, maybe not soap but to sit your shampoo bottle on.

Just took a closer look, the clip (when removed) can be opened wide to cling onto a rail (without the need to remove the rail). I'm convinced that it is a rail attachment for soap or other personal care products.

    Thanks guys! Mystery solved.
