I think that you will be creating an enormous amount of work for yourself and I would be dubious that it will work anyway. I've sieved more soil than I ever care to remember. The problems are myriad: - The chances are that you will find lots of rocks/gravel and other things that will make it a much longer and difficult process. - If the soil is not completely dry then sieving damp soil will end in tears i.e. it just won't work. Fine sand might be somewhat easier but see above. - To get...

The weed mat I have is approaching 10 years old and has not deteriorated at all. Yes, there are places where the edges have been exposed and over time there has been some fraying due to mechanical action - e.g. pulling large weeds out near the edge of the mat will cause the edges to fray but in from those edges has remained intact and the threads have not broken down. Weed mat should be covered with mulch/stones etc and therefore you would not expect any UV deterioration. Even where it has been...

It will also mean that the expensive...

Agree with Metrix. Don't waste time and effort trying to rectify. What you have done is OK and better than what many would have done. If, at some time in the distant future you have to redo it, fix it then.

Bloss, what are some ballpark figures for the cost of the wall insulation you had done? I know that every job will be different but just a ballpark figure would assist in knowing whether this is going to be a potentially viable option for me sometime in the future.
