OK I changed the audience so it may or may not work. Was chaos out there for about 45 minutes. Lots of water lying around on the driveway but presumably no damage. Ted hasn't checked the garage yet to see if it stayed dry.

Not sure if this link will work but this is about ten minutes in. The D/P isn't glued at the bottom and it simply geysered out. Surprisingly though, the short wall we put up to protect the outdoor laundry actually works, and the washing machine is completely dry on top. https://www.facebook.com/676348133/videos/307188294578862/

I never said that at all. He said he wasn't prepared to risk an argument with the owner and ruin his reputation by leaving the branches, even if it's quite legal to leave them there. All I asked him was what would be the lower cost if they were not disposed of at my expense. They have looked at the tree in the past and stated "there's no problem." I wish I still had the email from the first concreter who looked at this about eight or so years ago and refused to do any work unless a...

Agreed. I can vote with my dollars, of course. He is in fact less expensive (and more professional) than the next guy who came.

The neighbour is a single 50-ish lady who has no idea, so unlikely to be a punch-up. Truth is, he will need to get the cherry picker in via her back yard and I suspect she will refuse. I actually did not think about keeping the branches here, then just tossing them over. His reason was that he didn't want to ruin his "reputation." He will cut them into fireplace-sized chunks though for us if we prefer.

We had that kind of excellent experience with a concreter earlier this year but at the moment it's a challenge.

I know this is an issue right through the building industry at the moment, with many trades tied up for months. I don't understand though why they simply aren't honest about their availablilty. We have a couple of outdoor jobs that need doing and it's so frustrating. Paving guy number one turns up and measures, never sends quotation through. Paving guy number two promises to come and lockdown number eleventy million happens so he doesn't come, but he doesn't have the courtest of even a text...

We used a composite decking that looks exactly like merbau. It was a discontinued line at the big green shed too so bonus saving of $$$. It looks great and there's absolutely no maintenance. I will say though that if we did something like this again, I think we would use the invisible fixing.

Absolutely inexcusable and appalling installation. Who did he contract to do the work, the flooring retailer, or was it one of his chippies? I wouldn't touch it, to be perfectly honest. He's obligated to fix, even if he's out of action for now. Put a rug over it in the short term. It will have to come up and be done properly at some point. If you haven't finished paying him for the work, DON'T.

You can never have too many GPOs anywhere in a house! I'd just buy it and let your sparky figure the rest out. There are a few electricians here who can advise better than me though.

Cecile replied to a thread weird bathroom reno idea in Bathrooms
:wts: If the owner isn't prepared to spend any money to renovate don't knock yourself out trying to fix the situation. Leave it to their occupational therapist/physio to make the appropriate recommendation for a proper swivelling shower bench. I will add in though, a non-slip finish on the spa and good handrails are mandatory.

The person I spoke with at PayPal would not budge. It was almost as though she inferred we wanted a refund AND to keep the item. The information I discovered about the seller shows he's not that smart either. He has links to his personal and work pages from the ad. His address pic on Google maps shows a huge sign on his front fence announcing a business he operates, plus he's a property developer from what I can tell - big red flag. Easy enough to find out he not only has an ABN but...
