I wonder if new mdf is safer. Low emission low formaldehyde. Still softwood and hardwood of all forms are class 1a carcinogens. The few times I’ve been slack with Ppe make me regret it when your hear of someone with it. It really is about constant vigilance marc I don’t know who to blame more for the rollout failure. Certainly the media trumping up the clotting issue hasn’t helped. currently only 25 casss out of 2+ million az doses in Australia and only 1 death. all this...

It sure is. I know 30 and 40 year olds with it. way worse than asbestos because we’ve known about it for 50 years but do nothing. Also because it hits so young. Also because engineered benchtops are like 80%+ crystalline silica dry cutting I think was the biggest issue but there will be a lag between the ban and a reduction in cases. You cannot guarantee the extraction is doing its job without specialised air monitoring because a hepa filter could be releasing particles smaller...

it sort of looks more like cotton than crysotile to me. But what does everyone else think. 1930s house. Itís a hearth in the kitchen. I held a lighter close and it burns readily which doesnít seem like asbestos. Usually it just glows. I might send it to the lab

Thanks. dudnt use a membrane just the water resistant plaster and base coat. I figured if I had a plumbing leak would not necessitate up ladder and splash back replacement

I’ve got a man ozito wet saw and tile cutter from eBay that works very well. for ceramic tiles the cutter is better. For floor porcelain I preferred the wet saw. I use a stone hone to fix the chipping but i found pre scoring the porcelain I was using with tile cutter before wet cutting helped chip out. A good wet saw I think don’t they just fo a thin cut on the top then do a full thickness cut. The problem with cheap saws is they’re a push through unit for full thickness cut. The...
