If I understood correctly your idea about effectively replacing the angled joist on the end as a bearer which also acts as a joist, that doesn't seem so bad....

Thanks guys, I'll look them up.
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can recommend installers for hardwood flooring (direct sick onto concrete slab method) in the Coffs Harbour area, NSW.
We're having a new home built, and have not...
Hi Dave,
The Lanko 702 flows quite well... we had to mix and pour several bucket loads, in failing light... so the consistency was... inconsistent you might say. Some of the batches probably...
Thanks for the estimates PeteV!
For a brick or block wall (say 1.5m - 1.8m high), is there a guide for the size (width & depth) of the footing required ?
I imagine it should be in the form of...
According to their brochure, the product has a 7 year guarantee.... At that price, I wouldn't want to be replacing it in 7 years.
Does anyone have an idea what a brick wall type fence should cost...
Hi, i had the original Feast Watson natural oil when i first built my deck, and it was great. when i went to re-oil after 6 months or so, i picked up the new can ( which looked the same to me) and...
Hi all,
Am looking at purchasing a corner block with three street frontages, and require a decent fence to give privacy around two sides of the block. It's going to total about 50m or so, so i...
Thanks Bingl, I'll consider it next time I build a pool. It would save a bit of money you are right.
Hi all,
My kitchen is almost 2 years old, and there is a crack appearing in the join between two sections of the ceaserstone benchtop. Not sure if it's caused by movement, or just a poor grouting...
Thanks Pulpo...
Rough estimate on the cost (can't find all the receipts):
item qty item cost total
Channel 3m ...
Hi Brian,
You can have the channel completely free.... you just have to come and pick it up.
Cheers.
Seriously... I still have the channel pieces - free to anyone who wants it, no payment of any kind required.
Hi - just FYI, the fence has been certified, no capping required.
Hi, six months on, have just cleaned and oiled the deck for the second time.
I wanted to ask if anyone has noticed a change in the Feast Watson natural deck oil ?
I had some leftovers from the...
Thanks - I didn't realise this was required. Do you have any specific info from the BCA which relates to this ? From my reading of the information from my council and what I can find on the net of...
Yes, I agree - and I think it I were doing it again, I'd consider locking the panels together with the blocks of timber at the top and at the bottom of each panel. I had one panel where the bottom...
In case anyone is wondering, I've got a couple of pics of the window packers I used and have mentioned above.
They came in a mixed pack, sizes are 10mm, 6.4mm, 5.0mm, 3.2mm, & 1.5mm - there's...
Hi guys,
I have the bits of aluminium channel in the photo here left over. This stuff is $214 for 3m. The long section is 209cm and the short one is 71cm.
I'm open to any offers if anyone needs...
1) Get the channel level.
2) Use a block of timber (or taped together stack of window packers) just the right size to ensure that the bottoms of the glass panels are centered in the channel -...
Finally... the fence is up.
Very happy with the job so far... it's not absolutely perfect, but unless people come on over with their spirit levels and calipers, they're probably not going to...
After much procrastination, the channel is finally laid.
See the pics of the job so far. Not the worlds best concreting job (the form boards bowed out a bit under the weight of the concrete), but...
Sorry, didn't see this post earlier....
1) Stirrups are approx 1200mm apart along the bearers, the bearers are approx 1300mm apart (this is just from memory now... I can't find my drawings at the...
Thanks Bexi... yep, I'm in the area... and yes, dug the piers by hand with a shovel and crow bar. A post hole digger would be much quicker, but where's the fun in that! :U
I reckon there's a few people that would have a ready made water level at home and don't even know it! My home brew kit made the perfect water level 'bucket' complete with the tap at the bottom that...
Thanks Snoopy, best of luck with yours... the trickiest part I found for using the stirrups was positioning them above the holes prior to pouring concrete.
Hi - yes, essentially the same colourbond posts and rails, with panels made of lapped treated pine pailings, and an additional rail through the middle for support. I haven't looked up the rules about...
Here's some pics of my challenge.
Really ?? When I look at the pricelist for frameless glass, the FDF 1300 x 1180mm panels are $133 ea, the Highgrove 1300 x 1200mm from bunnings are $111. Also the FDF frameless hinge and latch kit...
Hi...
Yes, I'm planning on using the glass panels from bunnings. I have only seen the one range available... the highgrove system - they have different options, semi-frameless with posts bolted...
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has build a frameless glass pool fence using the highgrove glass and aluminium channels available at bunnings....
I'm thinking of doing one using this method. The...
Hi all,
Since most of everything I did or used in building my deck came from this forum, there's not much I can contribute back to the group except my pictures and thanks. I can however provide my...
After a bit of a clean using the method described in the sticky note from Utemad, it makes quite a difference.
The width of the deck was planned to be 5.0m, and I was going to have the ends of the boards hanging over so I could cut them off with the circular saw to get a nice even finish. However, when the...
Just a quick tip... don't forget to arrange drainage so the area under your deck cannot be used for boating.
The guy who sold me the mixer was pretty good about it, he got a replacement ring gear sent out to me at no charge, it just took about two weeks to get it to me.
Once it was all setup, I though...
Holes dug and timber ready to go... it was Friday afternoon and time to unpack and put together the concrete mixer that I had bought on ebay a few months earlier for this and a few other jobs that I...
Firstly, thanks to all who post their comments and questions here, saved me asking a lot of my own.
I started the project in January... best time of year for digging holes in clay! We had just...
Thanks for the heads up... I was just about to jump onto your site to order one.... I have managed to source one elsewhere, thought I'd better be quick given the supply situation.
