Like Barney said, make sure the PTFE is wound on in the direction of the thread

for tightening. Can't understand why it should leak with PTFE applied.

Putting PTFE on the thread is no use as the water (or gas) seal is created where the

face of the flare meets the face of the brass fitting. I find using a little smear of Loctite

LOXEAL...
